I'm writing this because I have exhausted all of my other options. I'm about the celebrate the 8th anniversary of my 32nd birthday, and was really hoping to celebrate it in a huge way. Specifically by having my favorite band play at my birthday party. As much as I'd love to just follow them around on tour like several of my friends did, I just can't do that. I'm the Mom....I need to be here with my girls. Therefore, I need the band to come to me since I can't go to them. However, upon doing a lot of homework, I've come to the sad conclusion that I can not afford the $15,000 that is their asking fee for a private party. I've talked to concert promoters, agents, etc...nobody wants to take pity on me. This is my last ditch effort to see if it can still happen somehow. My Mama always told me that it's not polite to ask for stuff, but my Daddy says "It never hurts to ask", so who to listen to? In this case...I love you Momma, but I'm going with Daddy. Consider this me asking....any chance you could get these boys to come play at my birthday party for me?
Here's the background. The band is 100 Monkeys. By now, I'm sure you have heard of them. I know people have been asking you to book them on your show for quite some time. I also know that last month, they performed in Dallas and sang a song about you. They do an improv song at every show, and you were the subject of that one. Enough about that since I'm sure by now, you've received tons of links to the video of it. Due to one of the band members and the work he has coming up towards the end of June, they are going to be in even higher demand than they already are, which is why I'd like to take care of this before then. My "anniversary of said birthday" is on August 24th. I could have my party on any day close to that. The band is most likely already booked on the 28th doing a Memorial event for a dear friend of theirs that passed away a few years ago...this will be in Detroit. They do these special shows to keep his music and spirit alive, as well as raise awareness for a rare form of cancer (adrenal cancer).
What I see is a win-win-win for all involved. I could enjoy my favorite band at my unfavorite birthday. The band could get the exposure that comes along with being on your show (that is assuming you sent a camera crew along). And you could get Monkey Junkie nation off of your back by finally having them on the show. Of course, you and Portia would certainly be invited....we'd love to have you & the entire gang out here. Oh...."by "here", I am referring to Green Bay, WI.
I also have one more thing....since I'm asking for the moon already....I have a good friend who is also a huge fan of them. She is a photographer and loves nothing more than going to their shows and taking pictures of the band. I NEED her to be at my party to get it all on film (ok...I guess it's pixels nowadays) for me. She needs a new camera to do that job. Her dream camera is a Canon EOS 7D. Her name is Jodie, and I want you to please take a minute or 5 to read this and you'll understand just why I want to do this for her too. After all birthdays are just as much about giving to others as they are about receiving....right?
Of course, I need my Aussie friend here as well. (hey...if i'm going to beg, I'm going to beg BIG). Look at what a kind heart she has...

Since I started this mission a while ago, actually thinking I could do it on my own, I have any contact information that might be needed. I can also help with finding a venue local to me willing to put up with all of us. (and a guest list too....of course/...even though I know you like to surprise folks, but since I'm the one doing the begging for myself, not sure how that could be done at this point.
